hi,
i'm richardscull
twenty-something software engineer from europe.
i like solving interesting problems and building fullstack stuff, like this site.
outside of work it's mostly side projects, sometimes just to learn something new. the rest of the time i'm lurking on twitter and experimenting with whatever catches my eye: ai, 3d, some low level stuff. i still care a lot about quality, which feels like a niche hobby in the age of ai slop.
ame is booting up…
work
software engineer @ big eu tech company 2025 — now
mostly backend stuff that gets a lot of traffic. i end up on the frontend too when something there needs fixing, so fullstack-ish.
things i made
- sunrise — an osu! private server. my main hobby project right now, with a few other people. sunrize.uk
- sunrise — the server itself, c#
- sunset — the website
- solar system — orchestrator that runs the whole thing
- observatory — beatmap manager
- sunshine — discord bot
- compass — docs
- osutify — a spotify clone, but every song comes from osu! beatmaps
- bomb party clone — the word game from jklm, rebuilt in next.js
things i wrote
things i read
blogs i keep going back to.
- kennethnym — I really like how he writes so little, but so on point
echo4eva — nice self drawn images in simply explained blog posts
qtnx_ — good LLM stuff
exe.dev — they post some good stuff about AI agents sometimes
planetscale — one of my favourite company blogs to read

sankalp — AI engineering and cool non technical posts mix
try: system design
a fake backend running in your browser. break it, then fix it. inspired by breakscale.tech.
